Hi All,
Gadgets of technology or snippets of philosophy, burning national issues or subtle emotional endeavors, I love to write about all. I have always been a man of lots of words, and those who have been bitten with my bug know it by experience. My nuances can be nuisances for many, my knowledge can be saturated for many and my versatility of discussion can be a curse to many but, I am still never bogged down in life because I just love it. Its just that I believe there is so much to learn around that I wish I can be associated with every event in this world. You would be wondering why have I suddenly chosen a path of self introduction in this post, its because today I want to talk about a contrast. A contrast to my nature, a contrast called Procrastination.
Brushing through the host of spams that our mail accounts are loaded with now-a-days, I accidently opened a very old mail. Eyes were stuck at a highlighted part of the subject, it read "wordsfromdebashish.blogspot.com". That sound known, Oh yes, I know that blog, it's my blog. Oh gosh, I have a blog. Yes for sure I have a blog! When was the last time I saw my own blog, I don't remember. Why? I don't know. Ok lets login. Thanks to the google 'baba', all related sites are linked with the same account so no issues remembering one of the dozen passwords that often take the most of our memories now-a-days. So this is what my blog looked like. It was like visiting your grandma's place after twenty years and trying to make your way through the scores of weeds and creepers that have captured the once beautiful place. Nostalgic...noway, a few seconds of fiddling around the blog made the weeds disappear and it suddenly felt as fresh as on the day of the first post. I saw the date on my last post or should I say the last of the only two I had written, and it read September 2009. I did not need to look at the watch to know it was April 2011 now. 18 months since I had not logged in to my own blog. A blog that I had created just to pen down the numerous thoughts that keep buzzing in my mind. The blog which I named " Srijan..the birth of thoughts" for the very meaning of it. So why did it slip of my regular routine. It seemed in contrast to my own way of life. Was it me! Wait! Just pause here, tag this part in your mind, we will return here later.
Let me take you to Kanpur for some time now, year 1998, time of the Xth board exams, sitting on a chair I am supposed to be studying. Supposed to be but not doing it. I had a newspaper doing the job of a wallpaper on the wall in front of my table, those glossy Sunday Times if you remember. Surrounded around it were a host of cars and bike pics sourced from all sorts of places. My passion of automobiles had overtaken the fear of the exams and surely for hours I was enjoying the feast of those pics. Suddenly I start reading an article in the newspaper. It was saying something about a strange word called procrastination. Proc...rast...ination..what! I had heard it for the first time, so I went on with the subject. By the time I had finished reading, I had realised that the bug had stuck me badly and I was badly procrastinating in terms of my studies at that time.
Ok! Now retrieve our tagged story (its facebook effect seems, tagged this, tagged that). I have never forgotten my introduction to the word and world of procrastination. And today I was being reminded of the same, as fresh as it was on that day in 1998. A passion of writing and penning down my thoughts had been overcast with the clouds of procrastination. It's a bad bug for sure. But how and why does it grow in you. Lets ponder over this thought for some time. My experience says we all love procrastinating, after all we all have had dozens of things that have been delayed for reasons unknown. Think back and you find there was a mouth organ you wanted to buy, there was mountain you wanted to ride to, there was this, there was that. I was more worried because I found myself procrastinating on my own passion of writing. There is a very thin line between procrastination and laziness. Or in other words procrastination grows symbiotically over the weed of laziness. Was I being lazy all this time or was it procrastination, or was it about being so busy in life that I forgot my passions. No...I wasn't so busy, I don't live life like that, then how. Well I still don't have a concrete answer or may be I would like to keep my answer to myself. But do you have an answer? Have you been bitten by this bug? Have a take on it for your own good.
Most pharma companies have stopped investing in Molecule research so for sure we aren't getting a vaccine for this nuisance any soon, but the idea of living with your passions has suddenly been bolted into my mind, what about you? I plan to have a post on this blog latest every week, whats your plan?
This was like a short documentary in written form, hope it can play some chords on your guitar too.
